FEED THE CHIDREN PROGRAM: This year due to Covid and the health department guidelines all food will be gathered in Rock Falls. The lunches will be packed on Tuesdays and picked up on Wednesdays and brought back to individual sights. Three sack lunches will be given out to the children between 11:30 A.M. and 12:30 P.M. in our church parking lot each week. This begins on June 2.
DVD OF THE MONTH: You may have heard about “THE CHOSEN” on Facebook or seen clips of the show. We now have season one of “THE CHOSEN” on DVD in our library, ready for you to check out and enjoy. The first 8 episodes on 2 discs present the life of Jesus as a multi-season show for the first time ever. This film digs deeper into the backstories and context of the people and events of the gospels. The Chosen app is also available free to learn more about this new project.
THE FOOD PANTRY ITEMS for May are Vegetable, Chicken Noodle or Tomato Soup and Crackers. Please help support the pantry by bringing a donation to church.
APRIL HOUSE in Morrison is collecting new, unused blankets for children coming through the center. Children are able to take home with them their own blanket that can be very comforting to them. They appreciate NEW child-friendly blankets for any ages, including teens. Character blankets are very popular for younger children, and Sherpa, print and tie blankets are suitable for teens. If you or your group is willing to make a new blanket donation, feel free to drop off the donation at their office (please call first 815-772-5286) – 507 N. Madison St., Morrison – serving all of Whiteside County.
1,000 BOOKS BEFORE KINDERGARTEN: The Schmaling Memorial Public Library wants to help your child or grandchild be ready for kindergarten. The concept is simple, read a book to an infant, or toddler. To participate in and qualify for the prizes from Schmaling’s program, the child or the parent or caregiver sponsoring the child must reside within the limits of the River Bend School District. So read with your child or grandchild, keep track of the number of books you read on your log sheet, once you read 100 books, turn your log sheet back in at the library and pick up a new log sheet. Your child will receive a prize. When you reach the 1,000 book level, your child will receive a book and a certificate of achievement and you will receive a gift too! For more information call 815-589-2045.
