THANK YOU to everyone who donated items and money to Operation Christmas Child. We packed 71 boxes this year! Also, thank you to all that helped sort, pack, and stack boxes. *** A big THANK YOU to all who gave to the King’s Daughters Home Department again this year. A total of $380 was received. This along with what we had in our treasury allowed us to contribute monies to the following organizations: Salvation Army $300; Whiteside County Women’s Jailhouse Ministries $100; World Vision $275 ($110 for 1 goat & 2 chickens, $100 for $800 worth of medicine, and $65 for hope for exploited girls). Again, thank you for your continued support.
UPDATE ON THE HOSPITALIZED & PRAYER CONCERNS:
Joetta Erickson is in Iowa City Hospital. Ardith Zuidema is in Mercy Living Center. Sandy Senior is home. Bob Merema is at the Alverno in Clinton. Pam VanderVinne is home following knee surgery. Please keep all the members of our congregation in your prayers.
OTHER ANNOUNCEMENTS OF INTEREST:
BELL RINGERS ARE NEEDED! We need bell ringers for the Dollar General and at the Shell Station. Dates and times are listed on the library bulletin board. Sign up today!!
ADVENT MEMORIALS can be given to the church this year. An order form is in your bulletin. Please have poinsettia orders returned by next Sunday. Other memorials are due December 17. These can be returned to the office slot on Karin’s office door.
PLARN BAGS: At this time, the Creative Crew no longer needs bags for making plarn mats, as the Canticle and hospital have enough for their currents needs. Your grocery bags may still be placed in the big box to support the great work of our Food Pantry and the Thrift Store. The Creative Crew thanks the congregation for your enthusiastic support of these missions in our area!
DVD OF THE WEEK: “THE CASE FOR CHRIST” is a new DVD, based on the true story and best-selling book by Lee Strobel. Working to disprove the growing Christian faith of his wife, an investigative journalist chases down the biggest story of all time—with unexpected, life-altering results. Several bonus features are included on this DVD, which runs 1 hour and 53 minutes and is rated PG.
ANYONE WANTING TO ASSIST WITH SERVING during social time is asked to please talk to Jane Lewis for the month of November. For the month of December contact Pam VanderVinne. If you only want to donate items or share baked goods, this would be appreciated too. Donations of snack foods, pop or cans of coffee may be donated anytime, just leave them on the counter in the library.
THE FOOD PANTRY ITEMS for November are Rice or Noodles. Please help support the pantry by bringing a donation to church.
THE ROBERT FULTON COMMUNITY CENTER serves meals at 11:30 A.M. on Wednesday’s and Friday’s. Wednesday’s meal is catered in by Windsor Manor. Friday the center is closed.
COME TO OUR “COMMUNITY CHRISTMAS PARTY” next Sunday at 6:30 P.M. at the Garden Plain Presbyterian Church. The program will feature the Trinity Quartet and singing of your favorite hymns and Christmas songs. Join us after the program for a time of fellowship, coffee and Christmas treats.
BREAKFAST WITH SANTA will be held December 2 from 7:00-10:00 A.M. at the Fulton Fire Station, 1802 16th Ave., Fulton. The menu is all you can eat pancakes, sausage patties, scrambled eggs, biscuits & gravy, coffee, milk and orange drink. Cost is free will donation with all proceeds to benefit Fire and Ambulance. Santa & Mrs. Claus will be available for photos!
THE COMMUNITY CHRISTMAS SING will be held December 3 at 6:00 P.M. at Spring Valley Reformed Church.
