UPDATE ON THE HOSPITALIZED & PRAYER CONCERNS:
Dean Brackemyer had surgery on Thursday at Mercy North Hospital for a hernia. Everything went well. Ardith Zuidema will have surgery on Tuesday to put a plate in her arm. Please keep all the members of our congregation in your prayers.
OTHER ANNOUNCEMENTS OF INTEREST:
CONSISTORY HIGHLIGHTS: Phillip & Alison Hahn requested baptism for their daughter, Hazelle Lynn. A new washing machine was bought for the parsonage. Leo Casey’s estate left money to the Memorial Fund. Backpack numbers are at 17 and monies are there to cover that cost. The February communion offering is designated to pay a quarter share for Pastor Bode who is seeking support to go to Oman.
ELDER-DEACON CALLING TEAM sheets are on the table in the narthex. Pick up a copy today!
SECURITY:The consistory voted to lock the doors at nine on Sunday mornings while we worship for security reasons. The two main front doors will NOT be locked. Any outside door can be exited at any time.
HELP IS NEEDED in opening and closing the church on Sunday mornings. If you would be willing to help, a sign up sheet is in the consistory room. If you would like more information, please contact Randy Dykstra.
FYI: Painting has begun in the low ceiling room downstairs. You are asked to please not use this room until the project is finished.
CREATIVE CREW is collecting used greeting cards. They however cannot accept cards from Hallmark, Disney, or American Greeting. There is a box by the library bulletin board that these can be placed in.
DVD OF THE WEEK: For the kids, we have a “Hermie and Friends” DVD about prayer, called “MILO, THE MANTIS WHO WOULDN’T PRAY.” The garden gang learns an important lesson about how to trust God after we pray, and that His answers come in many different forms. Included is a cartoon short and other bonus material. Running time is 60 minutes.
ANYONE WANTING TO ASSIST WITH SERVING during social time is asked to please talk to Candie Schipper for the month of January. For the month of February contact Jane Lewis. If you only want to donate items or share baked goods, this would be appreciated too. Donations of snack foods, pop or cans of coffee may be donated anytime, just leave them on the counter in the library.
THE FOOD PANTRY ITEMS for January are Bar Soap or Detergent. Please help support the pantry by bringing a donation to church.
THE ROBERT FULTON COMMUNITY CENTER serves meals at 11:30 A.M. on Wednesday’s and Friday’s. Wednesday’s meal is catered in by Eagle Point. Friday’s meal is Sweet and Sour Meatballs, Potato, Veggie and Dessert.
THE TWIN RIVERS “AFTER FIVE” group invites all women to “Everything Old is New Again” dinner and program this Tuesday at 6:30 P.M. at Triple Play Banquet & Bowl, 1601 9th Ave., Fulton. Cost of dinner is $11. Joan Vidlak will show “How to Recycle Clothing” and speak on “Life, What an Adventure.” For reservations call Ruth at 309-659-2175 or Carolene at 309-887-4097.
SOUP SUPPER: The Fulton Fire & EMS Soup Supper will be held this Saturday from 11:00 A.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the Fulton Fire Station, 1802 16th Ave., Fulton. The menu is Chili, Vegetable Beef, Chicken Noodle, Split Pea with Ham, or Oyster Stew and Roll, Desserts and Coffee, Milk, Lemonade or Water. All proceeds will go towards the purchase of Fire & EMS Equipment.
TRIVIA NIGHT: The Fulton Presbyterian Church will hold a Trivia Night on January 28 at 6:00 P.M. Cost is $10 per person. There can be up to 8 members on each team. Refreshments are provided. Proceeds will benefit the Mission Starfish Haiti School and Community. To reserve a table contact Bill Wilkin at 563-249-3098. A list of items that they are collecting to take on their mission trip is posted on the library bulletin board. Take a look and see if you can help.
