UPDATE ON THE HOSPITALIZED & PRAYER CONCERNS:
Mary Temple is in skilled care at Morrison Hospital. Kathelyn VanderVinne was in the hospital on Monday. She has since returned home. Please keep all the members of our congregation in your prayers.
OTHER ANNOUNCEMENTS OF INTEREST:
CONSISTORY HIGHLIGHTS: The slate of candidates for elders and deacons was approved and the process of contacting nominees is in process. The property committee was given the ok to have the carpeting cleaned in the fellowship hall, library and sanctuary. Chris Krum and Julie Bielema are Sunday School teachers for those who are in fourth grade and under. Pastor Edie will be teaching those who are fifth grade and up. Carol Janvrin will lead the adults in a discussion of “The Autopsy of a Dead Church.” The annual congregational meeting will be November 12.
OUR KENTUCKY WORK GROUP leaves this Saturday. They will be doing work at Jackson County Ministries for the week. They will return on September 30.
HOME DEPARTMENT donations are due next Sunday.
DVD OF THE WEEK: In “THE FIFTH QUARTER,” Aidan Quinn and Andie MacDowell deliver emotionally stirring performances as the parents of Jon Abbate, a rising football star at Wake Forest University. Their lives are suddenly shattered when the family’s youngest son, Luke, is killed in a tragic accident. Inspired by Luke’s memory, Jon courageously leads the Wake Forest team to a series of last-minute victories. Based on a true story, this DVD is rated PG and runs about 90 minutes.
ANYONE WANTING TO ASSIST WITH SERVING during social time is asked to please talk to Pam VanderVinne for the month of September. For the month of October contact Candie Schipper. If you only want to donate items or share baked goods, this would be appreciated too. Donations of snack foods, pop or cans of coffee may be donated anytime, just leave them on the counter in the library.
THE FOOD PANTRY ITEMS for September are Instant Potatoes, Green Beans, Peas, Carrots and Corn. Please help support the pantry by bringing a donation to church.
THE ROBERT FULTON COMMUNITY CENTER serves meals at 11:30 A.M. on Wednesday’s and Friday’s. Wednesday’s meal is Hamburger, Hotdog or Brat on Bun, Baked Beans, Chips and Ice Cream. Friday’s meal is Creamed Chicken on Biscuit, Veggie, Fruit Salad and Dessert.
THE TWIN RIVERS “AFTER FIVE” group invites all women to “Stepping in Style!” this Tuesday at 6:30 P.M. at Triple Play Banquet & Bowl, 1601 9th Ave., Fulton. Cost of dinner is $11. All ladies are asked to bring a scarf for the scarf tying demonstration. The speaker is Bess Stetler. She will speak on “Season of Change!” For reservations call Ruth at 309-659-2175 or Carolene at 309-887-4097.
THE CUB SCOUTS of Fulton are collecting any and all school supplies as well as monetary donations. Donations are going to benefit the students of Beaumont, TX, whose homes and schools were devastated in the flooding following Hurricane Harvey. Drop off locations are the Fulton Meat Market or Witt’s End this Saturday from 10:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M.
